FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Question: what do the letters in square brackets after the book titles mean?

Answer: We use those abbreviated codes to differentiate between different states (formats, covers) of the same book.

The full set of codes we use on the website is as follows:

  • [pb] - Paperback - a soft-cover book (typically older PS titles or news-stand editions of Postscripts magazine).
  • [hc] - Hardcover - a hard-cover book, without a dust-jacket (the cheaper, 'trade' editions of most novellas, novels, collections, anthologies etc. and the limited, signed editions of Postscripts magazine).
  • [jhc] - Jacketed Hardcover - a hard-cover book with a paper dust-jacket (the limited, signed editions of most novellas, and the 'trade' editions of some older novels, collections, anthologies etc).
  • [sc] - Slipcased Hardcover - a hard-cover book, with a dust-jacket, in a card slip-case (the limited, signed editions of most novels, collections, anthologies etc and the limited, lettered editions of novellas.
  • [del] - Deluxe Hardcover - a hard-cover book, with a dust-jacket, either packaged in a tray-case or an extremely limited slipcased edition; full details will be given on the appropriate catalogue page.
If you have any doubt about the details of the binding, please see the relevant catalogue page, or contact us here at PS for an explanation.

Question: Are your quoted dollar prices 100% accurate?

Answer: All prices on the PS Publishing website are quoted in UK Pounds Sterling (£). Dollar prices are provided in parentheses '[]' as an indication only.

When you buy from the PS Publishing website, you will be charged in Sterling. If you are buying from outside the UK, your credit card company (or Paypal, as applicable) will charge your account based on the prevailing international exchange rate at the time of purchase.

As you can appreciate, we are unable to track the fluctuations in the exchange rate on a constant basis, but we do try to keep up with the headline rate to keep our indication as accurate as we can.

But the final dollar amount you are charged for your purchase may differ very slightly from the total amount shown in your shopping basket.

Question: I don't have a credit / debit card, or am unable to pay online. What other payment options are available to me?

Answer: If you do not have a credit / debit card, we can accept payment by sterling cheque / dollar check instead. Please select the appropriate option on the checkout screen when you make your purchase.

Your order will be held on file for 3 weeks, during which time you will need to send us a sterling cheque or dollar check for the full amount, including postage.

Please make all cheques / cheques payable to 'PS Publishing' and post them, along with a printed copy of your receipt email (to speed things up at this end) to:
